education began 30 years ago as a spirited teacher, and she has since followed
a path-breaking career trajectory, becoming a source of inspiration for many in
the educational field.

Initiatives
A firm believer in the saying, “Early starts make kids smart,” she conceived and delivered “Happy Tots,” a pioneering initiative in early childhood education. “Happy Tots” has set new standards for primary education in the country and is one of the fastest-growing curriculums, endorsed by schools and authorities alike. This initiative has touched the lives of more than 500,000 children across India and the Middle East.
Innovation and STEAM Education
Understanding the urgent need for innovation in classrooms, Ms. Maalathi is extensively working with schools to integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) into their curricula. She strives to model and catalyze excellence, believing that “the purpose of education is not to fill the minds of the students with facts... it is to teach them to think.” To foster this innovative spirit, she is setting up Incubation and Innovation Centres in schools in collaboration with Swinburne, STEM Discovery Center, Australia. Through these centres, she promotes innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
Additional Contributions:
Dr. Maalathi is currently the Editor of the monthly magazines, KIDS and Genius Punnagai, meant for students in the age group of 6-16 years. As a visionary educator, her mission is to empower educators through capacity-building workshops, which in turn will bring the needed changes in classrooms and in society.
